Billions Australia is thrilled to announce that the Nick Cave Solo tour of Australia - the bill of which boasts an appearance by Grinderman - has sold out shows across the country. Five consecutive nights at Melbourne’s Forum are a complete sell out, along with one of two shows in Sydney and Brisbane. Due to a high demand for tickets, Billions Australia has added another Sydney show, with a third consecutive performance announced for Monday 22 October at the Enmore Theatre. Tickets to the third and final Sydney date go on sale this Monday 27 August, with limited tickets still remaining for shows in Adelaide, Sydney (Oct 21 only) and Brisbane (Oct 24 only). Do not miss out.

This is an opportunity, a chance you may never have again, to see Nick Cave through two completely different prisms in one evening and on one stage. Each of shows will open with a set by Grinderman with Nick shouldering an electric guitar as one quarter of the band. Following will be a Nick Cave Solo set which sees Nick holding court from behind the concert grand piano, as he did here in January of 2000, but aided and abetted this time by Warren Ellis on violin, Martyn Casey on bass and Jim Sclavunos on drums.

The assembly of Warren, Martyn and Jim is the composition of the ensemble that has been accompanying Nick in his solo performances since 2000 and with Nick they also make up the foursome that is the mighty Grinderman.

Grinderman can trace its genesis to the working method of Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds as they prepared the songs that would become 2004’s Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus, a stunning double album many regard as the band’s finest effort, selling over 500,000 copies worldwide.

Early that year, Nick took Warren, Martyn and Jim into the tiny Misère studio in Paris as a songwriting experiment. With a radical and expeditious approach, the four men laid basic tracks for an amazing ten CDs of original material over the course of a mere four days.
Over time, the dynamic this quartet developed as they worked both in live settings and on soundtrack and scoring projects began to suggest potential for a new living, breathing, original band that might operate autonomously from the Bad Seeds with a dramatically different sound and process.

In February of 2006 the four entered London's Metropolis Studios for a frenzied, five-day marathon of demo sessions, creating several hours of raw material. The best of this was distilled into what would become the newborn Grinderman’s eponymous and earth-moving debut.
