On Sunday, December 7, Nick and the band will headline a special concert event at Melbourne's beloved Myer Music Bowl. Surrounded by the lushness of the King's Domain and framed by the Melbourne skyline, the Bad Seeds will be joined by two extraordinary American artists making their first trip to Australia, Calexico and Neko Case.

Calexico, helmed by in-demand guitarist/vocalist Joey Burns and drummer John Convertino, craft subversive melodies studded with hot-blooded mariachi horns, chiming marimbas, and tumbleweed guitars to create a windswept and lonely Western landscape. Of their latest full-length release, Rolling Stone (US) said: "Feast of Wire simmers with the desolate desperation that has earned Calexico a niche as an authentic voice of the American desert." According to Pitchfork Media, the album "calls on a stunning, finely kept arsenal of genres, textures and images to transport you to the Southwest's forgotten places and put you in the shoes of the people who stare across the border in both directions." To hear these sounds floating across the Victorian summer evening will be magical.

Red-hot American country chanteuse Neko Case is long overdue on these shores. The international acclaim and declarations of devotion have been piling up in the wake of her latest album, the compelling "Blacklisted".

Her unforgettable voice has been called "a force of nature.capable of quickly transmuting from blue-sky tranquility to hurricane-force furor" (Pulse!) and "tall and mighty as Washington State's Grand Coulee Dam, a rushing brook laying down the silt of years" (Village Voice). Spin has offered that Neko "treats Americana like a wellspring of weirdness, not a retro refuge, keening over ghostly pedal steel like a twangier (and more lucid) version of Mazzy Star's Hope Sandoval." She will appear on this date backed by the duo of Jon Rauhouse on pedal steel and banjo and Tom Ray on double bass, a perfect showcase for what she does best.

With Nick Cave heralded afresh as one of this generation's most inventive, purposeful, and influential songwriters and propelled by The Bad Seeds' legendary live explosiveness and conviction, this would be an event not to be missed under any circumstances. With the added attractions of Calexico and Neko, this will be one for the ages.

Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds will be promoting their acclaimed and inspiringly vigorous twelfth full-length release "Nocturama" by playing songs from it here in Australia for the first time. The album includes the spectacular pairing of Nick with Chris Bailey of the legendary Saints on the single "Bring It On".

This stunning album has just been nominated in the 2003 ARIA awards in the Best Rock Album category.

The band has also just released "God is in the House", a feature-length DVD that presents the band's 2001 live performance at Le Transbordeur in Lyon, France along with director John Hillcoat's two videos for selections from the "No More Shall We Part" album as well as his documentary of the making of that album. The DVD also contains the video for the exclusive Australia-only single "Love Letter", directed by Tony Mahony.

Nick Cave was recently the subject of the award-winning arts programme "The Southbank Show". Featuring material recorded exclusively for the show, the one-hour documentary was broadcast on the ITV networks in the UK in August. In May, he and the band delivered a shocking and brilliant set at the request of London's prestigious Tate Britain Museum. In July, Mick Harvey of the Bad Seeds released a new soundtrack album "Australian Rules", the original soundtrack to the film of the same name. Directed by Paul Goldman, the film has played at many film festivals across the world including Sundance, the Edinburgh Film Festival, Verona and the London Australian Film Festival in addition to opening the Athens International Film Festival and closing the Melbourne International Film Festival. The film has so far received many awards and nominations, including a nomination for the Best Score for Mick Harvey from the Australian Film Institute.

The soundtrack has been nominated in the 2003 ARIA awards in the Best Original Soundtrack album category.
