Original Press Release:

Stephen Malkmus (SM) is probably best known for his work in 90s slanted pop group PAVEMENT. He played guitar and wrote many of the songs that made PAVEMENT one of the most influential bands of the 90s. The above band broke up in 1999 to a dramatic media outcry, and since that time SM has been carving out a solo career which is sparkling brighter by the day.

Earlier this year, Stephen released a self-titled album, which has put a lot of smiles on people's faces and magazines like Juice stated "it's everything we loved about Pavement on a record that should come close to topping its class- and not just for 2001". It also reached the outskirts of the UK top 40 and was followed up by a performance of "Jenny & the Ess-Dog" on the Late Show with David Letterman and a grand style world tour.

"Stephen Malkmus" is also a cracker of a radio record. "The Hook" was the first to sparkle fans of the FM, followed by "Jo Jo's Jacket" the cheeky song all about Yul Brynner and finally "Phantasies" was yet another song with the best sugary clap along chorus this side of Cronulla.

And who are the Jicks? The jicks are Joanna Bolme (bass), and John Moen (drums) and they both played an integral part in the recording of SM's LP and they have been playing in his band ever since. On this tour they will also be joined by Heather Larimer (vocals, percussion) and Michael Clark (guitar/keyboards). All of these musicians deserve more than just "side people on a solo album" attention, having put in the long hard years in their hometown of Portland Oregon with many fine musical contributions. Here are the dates...
