After a long stint promoting the release of their Sound Awake album overseas, a well oiled KARNIVOOL are very pleased to announce their return to Australian shores for the New Day tour.
Taking in major capital cities and some key regional dates in late June and July this year, this will be the final Australian tour for the Sound Awake album cycle and their only Australian headline tour in 2010. See tour dates below, tickets go on sale Friday April 23rd.
KARNIVOOL are currently in the US on the tail end of a mammoth 7 week international tour which has spanned the breadth of the globe. Following their triumphant afternoon slot on the Big Day Out main stage earlier this year the band jetted off to Helsinki to start a 12 date European headlining tour which saw them sell out rooms in Germany and the UK (including the legendary London rock venue The Garage), eat reindeer in Finland, smash through the Baltic Sea on an icebreaker, set new records for what could fit in a splitter van and see more ice and snow than a 5 piece from Perth could imagine existed.
The morning after their sold out London show the band took off to Texas where they crammed 6 shows into 4 days at the SXSW festival before starting their 20 date co-headlining tour with Dallas TX spazz rockers Fair to Midland. Highlights thus far include surviving a tyre blowout in North Carolina, taking to the stage at the sold out 700 cap Gramercy Theatre in New York City and being more than a little disturbed by the antics of the Jackass cast in Philadelphia.
Commenting from Toronto, guitarist Drew Goddard said,
“Six weeks and counting – life on the road has been treating us well. We’ve been clocking up some serious mileage over Europe and the US, playing cracker shows and meeting awesome people, many who have travelled from all over (Poland, Hungary, Greece and of course Tampa!) to come see us. Many boozy nights and too many hung-over breakfasts at Waffle House to count. As amazing as this has been, there’s nothing like the feeling of coming back to our island home. Come party with us! It’s been too long!”
The band’s Sound Awake album has already achieved gold status in Australia and is well on its way towards platinum sales. It has been released in 13 other territories across the globe, the media reaction has been universally positive with KARNIVOOL gaining exposure in some iconic international press including Kerrang, Classic Rock, MTV, Radio 1 and the Wall St Journal. See international media quotes below. With an unmatched aural and visual experience in the live arena, transporting both the band and their fans to a unique place, a KARNIVOOL show is more than a gig, it’s a gathering, and the beast is happily returning to Australia. Presented by Fidelity Corporation and Billions Australia, tickets for KARNIVOOL’s New Day tour go on sale Friday April 23rd. Punters…be warned, these shows will sell out fast!
